Purpose

Develop a vision and manage the activities of the workforce using effective practices that promotes both team and individual job performance. Provide leadership and direction to the workforce to achieve company goals and objectives within budget.

Responsibilities

•1 Demonstrates a commitment to personal and workforce safety and holds self and workforce accountable for adherence to UI's Safety Manual, safe work practices, DEEP, DOT and OSHA regulations., Percent 1:10.
•2 Manage resources safely and effectively in the operation, maintenance, construction and testing activities in accordance with standards and procedures. Support storm restoration efforts, IMT, mutual assistance, call-ins 24X7, etc., Percent 2:10.
•3 Initiates and fosters teams, motivates the workforce to support continuous improvement due to the changing business environment and technology., Percent 3:10.
•4 Ensures that work performance is measured against standards, goals and objectives, taking action to improve performance. Set expectations, conduct performance reviews and hold work group accountable for their actions. Percent 4:10.
•5 Ensures compliance with NEC/NESC/NERC/FERC/CIP Standards, including Sarbanes Oxley, UIL's Code of Business Conduct, work practices, operating procedures and company policies. Percent 5:10.
•6 Ensures compliance with the collective bargaining agreements. Support and/or conduct grievance meetings and/or addressing issues utilizing the interest-based problem solving approach, including joint union/management meetings. Percent 6:10.
•7 Develop, communicate and implement goals, action plans and lead teams focused on continuous organizational improvement. Monitor measures and metrics, immediately addressing undesirable results. Percent 7:10.
•8 Initiates and supports training efforts in the development of the workforce and ensures that the workforce has the necessary job skills. Percent 8:10.
•9 Work closely with other operations departments, UI business areas and external resources to meet corporate objectives. Ensure a positive and productive relationship with maintenance operations. Participate in or chair committees and task forces. Percent 9:10.
•10 Provide fiscal, strategic and operational leadership in managing cost, improving processes, reducing inefficiencies and assisting procurement. Support new and/or enhanced technology for managing work orders, including storm restoration. Percent 10:10

Skills and Requirements

•BS/BA Degree- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant discipline. Applicants with an Associate's degree and 15 years' experience in an electrical related field may be considered; however, additional education and/or certification may be required.
•The position requires at least five years supervisory and technical experience in the electrical field of construction and maintenance. Labor relations experience in managing multiple resources in a union environment. Must have proven ability to manage.
