Job Summary and Scope:

THIS HYBRID ROLE- 2 DAYS PER WEEK IN OFFICE, 3 DAYS PER WEEK REMOTE - WILL BE BASED OUT OF OUR HEADQUARTERS IN ATLANTA, GA.

The manager of financial analysis is responsible for providing financial support to assist senior leaders in identifying variances in performance, levers to improve performance, as well as working with various functional leads to implement solutions. This position will be focused on supporting Veritiv's developing businesses that are driving accelerated growth for the enterprise and innovative solutions for our global customers. This role will provide support to both senior business and finance leaders as the functional lead on business initiatives and projects involving finance. This role will also be responsible for financial modeling to improve profitability, and supporting efforts around the combination of financial and business information and analysis in support of the company's reporting, forecasting and planning processes.

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: financial reporting, business analysis, forecasting, budgeting, capital investments and compliance with corporate and governmental regulations.

This role is expected to work with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes financial, economic & operational data to support activity-based modeling and profitability pro formas.
  • Provides actionable insights and recommendations to business leaders on existing business, as well as future business opportunities.
  • Assists with the modeling and development of projections for quarterly forecasts and annual budgets. Incorporate macro-economic drivers and industry indicators into forecast assumptions as well as key business impacts and strategies.
  • Responsible for building and supporting the suite of financial models and reporting tools used by finance and business leaders to drive action and support strategic initiatives.
  • Support content and commentary for financial review decks and present to small audiences in monthly executive business review.
  • Provide financial review slides and ad hoc analysis requested for quarterly board of directors meetings, and SEC filings.
  • Integrate financial and operational metrics from various reporting systems to analyze and report on results.
  • Responsible for monitoring the monthly close activities and understanding unusual entries and/or accruals.
  • Manage various projects of a financial nature at a local, regional, or national level

Required Skills:

  • Advanced spreadsheet and multi-relational data modeling skills
  • Comfortable building automated work flows and reporting solutions
  • Comfortable working with large amounts of data in an efficient and scalable manner
  • Working knowledge and direct application of balance sheet, income statement and cash flow concepts
  • Problem solving skills; ability to understand and structure issue resolution
  • Time management skills and capacity to manage priorities and meet important deadlines
  • Must be detail oriented and exercise precision in work
  • Comfortable presenting complex materials to audiences with varying levels of financial acumen
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work across multiple functions in the organization

Required Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree is preferred (accounting or finance major preferred)
  • Minimum of 5- 7 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, SQL, SSAS, Power Pivot, Power Query, or Power BI is preferred
  • Experience working with Hyperion and Essbase preferred
  • CPA, CMA, CFA or other professional certification is preferred
