General Statement of Job

Responsible for end-to-end program management that encompasses all projects and initiatives related to the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, including verification and validation and will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, controlling and communicating all relevant program level activities to all appropriate stakeholders.

Description of Duties and Tasks

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Interfaces with external vendor partners responsible for delivering the final software product and systems integration consulting services necessary for the successful implementation.
  • Coordinates projects and activities related to the program including but not limited to business requirements gathering, testing and implementation of various modules of the selected platform.
  • Acts as the business relationship manager for the various internal organizational groups and representing the program to all appropriate stakeholders.
  • Establishes work plans and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arranging for recruitment or assignment of project personnel as needed.
  • Provides leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the program lifecycle and conferring with project staff to outline work plans.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between external partners and internal stakeholders during all phases of the project.
  • Works with project managers, overseeing the closing of all related projects and the closing of the entire program including access removal, test environment decommissioning, documentation and "lessons learned".


  • Knowledge

    Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

    • Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
    • Strong knowledge of project & program management methodologies, processes and procedures.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the key areas that typically fall under the purview of a major ERP systems including finance and HR.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Student Information Systems (SIS) within an ERP system.
    • Sound understanding of IT concepts including, but not limited to, System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), iterative development/delivery, systems integration, data cleansing, data migration, verification and validation.
    • Knowledge of instructional resource technology and terminology along with knowledge of higher-education practices, policies and procedures.
    • Budget & resource planning knowledge and experience.
    • Experience with risk identification, risk mitigation/contingency planning, tracking and escalation/resolution.

    • Strong relationship building, negotiation and facilitation skills.
    • Strong skills with project management software and other work productivity tools.
    • Experience providing direction, coaching or mentoring to junior project manager and/or project team members.


    Technology Skills

    • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
    • Use query and control languages, programming languages, and database systems.


    Required Work Experience

    • Three years related work experience.


    Preferred Work Experience

    • Eight or more years of related work experience in mid-sized to large organizations of moderate to high organizational complexity.
    • Four or more years of hands-on complex program management experience.
    • Two or more years of experience with hands-on project management managing all aspects of projects from initiation to close.
    • Three or more years managing projects or programs related to ERP implementation.


    Required Education

    • Bachelor's degree.


    Special Requirements

    Licenses/Certifications; Other

    • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel in the Austin area as required.


    Other Preferred Qualifications

    • Ten or more years of business unit facing experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving.
    • Five years' experience successfully managing complex and risky programs end-to-end.
    • Five years' experience as a program manager in a similar capacity with specific end-to-end ERP implementation experience.
    • Three or more years working in a higher-education environment using or implementing a modern ERP solution.
    • Experience leading projects in the following areas is highly desirable:
      • Data migration
      • Finance/Accounting, Human Resources
      • Higher-Education Student Information Systems (SIS)



    Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
    • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
    • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

    Information for This Posting Only

    • This is a benefit eligible position funded through January 31, 2022 and is subject to renewal. The College is unable to support candidates who require sponsorship to work in the United States.


    ACC Benefits Overview

    Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
