SUMMARY

The Crew Scheduling Manager oversees the Crew Scheduling Department daily operations to ensure that the flight crew members staffing levels are achieved by optimizing the crew resources. The incumbent will lead and manage the Rostering team on day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with the FARs Part 121 regulatory requirements, company policy/procedures and the Crewmember Handbook.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:

  • Supervises, coaches, and mentors team members through effective performance management and ongoing feedback.
  • Executes on strategy of Crew Scheduling focusing on the daily operation with an eye on weekly, monthly, and quarterly scheduling needs and operational factors including, but not limited to, irregular operations, SWAP, emergency response, and service recovery.
  • Manages daily operations of crew scheduling personnel including staffing, scheduling, and ensuring compliance to FARs (Federal Aviation Regulations), CBAs (Collective Bargaining Agreements), TSA (Transportation Security Administration).
  • Ensure that crew schedulers and flight members comply with prescribed flight schedule duties, rest periods, qualifications, required maintenance, by upholding crew schedule standards to satisfy business requirements while minimizing crewing costs.
  • Works in conjunction with Operations Control Center (OCC) personnel, Flight Operations and Flight Training Department to ensure a safe, efficient, and cost-efficient operation, improve efficiency, track, analyze, and report on operational issues.
  • Post new flight bids for crews within the 28 day bid procedures. Create rosters and publish in accordance with the approved schedule.
  • Serves as point of contact to communicate EFI (Extreme Flight Irregularity), Extended Tarmac Delay, and Global Notification (Medial alert) to base leadership, divisional leadership, and affected personnel.
  • Administer crew payroll, expenses and budget for crewing activities.
  • Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
  • Prioritizes and assigns tasks to ensure that the team’s resources are used effectively
  • Manage crew members score files, seniority list, publishing and awarding crew base openings.
  • Ensures that work schedules and targets are met.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:
  • A.S in Aviation Business Administration or related field desired, but not necessary. We will consider candidates with combined experience and education in Crew Scheduling, Aviation, Flight Operations, Dispatch, and/or Business Administration.
  • Air Dispatcher Certificate (ADC) desired, but not required.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must be well versed in FAA’s (FARs part 121) existing flight duty and rest regulations for crew members.
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Crew Scheduling software as Geneva, Navtech, Merlot or Sabre
  • ETOPS training highly desired.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Crew Scheduler Manager or 7 years’ experience as Senior Crew Scheduler. Experience in Flight Following not necessary, but desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of airline/inflight operations
  • Experience in working with regulatory agencies such as FAA, TSA, and CBP
  • Crew Scheduling for union members to meet the requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Flight Coordination and FAA Flight Operations Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to work in a high-pressure environment and be able to handle several projects and tasks simultaneously while delivering results.
  • Excellent communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening)
  • Strong organizational skills, confidence in decision-making, conflict management, and resiliency
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, outside contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead implementation of forward thinking guidelines and procedures across the enterprise.
  • Experience in the development of policy and procedures.
