About the job:

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for overall maintenance of property. Responsible for preventive maintenance, painting and repairs inside and outside the property to provide a safe, attractive and orderly environment for the benefit, use enjoyment protection of residents, staff and visitors. This is an entry-level position. This position requires weekend hours.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months full-time experience in building maintenance
  • Proficient in English. Must have the ability to read and write in English
  • Able to follow both verbal and written English instructions
  • Ability to follow proper safety protocols
  • Know how to turn the water valve and electricity off in case of emergency
  • Pass background screening (drug, employment history and criminal)
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of basic machinery and tools
  • Construction experience and/or maintenance of equipment and utility experience
Essentials:
  • Make recommendations to Community Administrator on necessary maintenance repairs, preventive maintenance, and property improvements
  • Repair and paint the building exterior as needed
  • Maintain adequate lighting for interior and exterior of the property
  • Schedule and expedite work order request
  • Maintain a clean and orderly storage room
  • Must be capable of using and climbing extension ladder to access roof, windows, and siding to make repairs as needed
  • Safety:
  • Know, follow and enforce facility safety rules.
  • Demonstrate proper use of equipment; report equipment needs or repairs.
  • Follow and enforce facility smoking policies.
  • Report and document incidents or accidents involving residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate facility personnel.
  • Oversee and inspect quality and ensure adherence to safety and building regulations.
  • Ensure quality of contracted services and enforce adherence to safety and building safety.
  • Understand and implement established emergency procedures
  • Complete required training
  • Available to work on-call to ensure that twenty-four (24) hour maintenance is provided to the properties.
