Expectations

Essential Functions

The Maintenance Shift Supervisor will work a 12-hour Dupont schedule directly supervising maintenance employees to ensure the effective delivery of maintenance services and support production in a 24-hour 7-day per week operation. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing employee complaints, and resolving problems. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies. 75% of the time the supervisor will be on the production floor with only 25% in an office setting.

  • Collaborates with the maintenance, production, and engineering management and supervision to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Supervises both the maintenance employees and contractors on site.
  • Utilizes mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.
  • Utilizes mPulse, a computerized maintenance management system, to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Implements corrective actions identified by key maintenance performance indicators as a means to create overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
  • Ensures corporate policies and standards are followed in maintenance on a daily basis.
  • Shares "best practices" within the Maintenance Department.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a supervisor requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating.
  • Provides for the supervision of employees directly to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management.
  • With the existence of a collective bargaining agreement, may participate in negotiations, grievances or other contract related activities and discussions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to follow all Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Ability to select, coach, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees

WORKING CONDITIONS

Manufacturing Plant Floor

The ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs on the plant floor for extended periods. Less than 25% of the job duties will require office work.

Education, Experience, and skills

Education:

Technical school or applicable on-the-job experience

Professional experience:

Minimum three years applicable industry experience (supervisory preferred)

Communications:

Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Languages:

English

  • Mechanical and electrical systems troubleshooting
  • Process and machine experience
  • Utility operations
  • Facility maintenance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using a CMMS
