SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting in basic maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing and improving blow molding equipment and associated support systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Adjust machine settings to QC specifications.
  • Performs adjustments on machine process controllers on each machine
  • Troubleshoot secondary equipment (saws, drills, conveyors)
  • Fill out mold and maintenance logs
  • Pull apart and clean inner bodies on all styles of blow molding heads
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Communicate well with Quality techs and shift supervisors on quality issues
  • Follows safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation and identifies and reports unsafe operations to Supervisor immediately
  • Recommends improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety
  • Pursues and contributes in goal of cost reductions

QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required but a technical certification in maintenance or related field preferred. Some knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics is preferred. Knowledge and or previous experience in blow molding, injection molding or extrusion molding desirable. Experience with processing or troubleshooting of plastics equipment preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical manuals, blueprints, drawings, and diagrams and electrical blue prints

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Working on shop floor will involve having exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, odors, and grime of machinery. The work environment is typically warm to hot.

Ability to perform adjustments on machine process controllers. Strong problem solving abilities. Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills with ability to adapt to changing situations. This position requires that the person be a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently and take direction from others to work in a team setting. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well with a wide range of people. Ability to develop and train others. Maintains quality service by following organization standard. Strong computer skills
