Executes predetermine methods to package product by the press or store as work in process. Performs visual inspections to detect obvious defects. Keep box counts in order to document the quantity of product being produced.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Package products at the press by following predetermine methods to minimize error.
• Consistently meets production requirements.
• Empty catch totes into gaylord where packaging at the press is not specified.
• Perform basic visual inspection of product and report any quality defects to the shift supervisor.
• Keep production area clean in order to promote a safe and neat work environment.
• Packaging and labeling.
• Report any and all safety violations to the shift supervisor to ensure the working environment is free from safety hazards.
• Engages in the daily operator maintenance program such as basic oiling of machines.
• Collects data for Production Boards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to understand and follow all safety procedures including but not limited to PPE, steel toe safety shoes, maintaining safety guards, etc.
• Ability to tend to more than one machine at the same time.
• Ability to use basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, counting and the use of tape measure.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Up to three months of related experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to use the required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at waist, and climb ladders or equipment.
• Maximum unassisted lift - 50 lbs. Average lift less than 35 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and requires hearing protection. Eye protection is also required.
• Steel Toe Safety shoes required.
• Temperature environment 40 degrees to 110 degrees.
