What you will do


We're keeping the Navy cool. Literally. The primary mission of our Johnson Controls Navy Systems team is to supply large chilled water HVAC and refrigeration systems to the US Navy and US Coast Guard.


Location: Grantley Plant in York, PA
Shift: 2nd Shift, 3:00pm - 11:30pm, Monday-Friday
Pay: Union rate of $27.94 per hour plus .70 cent shift differential for being 2nd shift


  • Qualify in and perform the following non-destructive examination, procedure:
  • dye penetrant tests and magnetic particle test.
  • Quality in and perform setups, programming and operation of the coordinate measuring machine.
  • Adjust, calibrate, certify and date instruments.
  • Check, audit, measure, record, repair and calibrate precision gauges, measuring devices, including inspection of any special parts, jigs, fixtures, dies, assemblies and tools.
  • Investigate on a wide variety of assignments, such as tooling, fixtures, production operations, government coded and regulated packaging and shipping operations, instrument calibration and repair and receiving operations.
  • Audit and verify by performing checks and tests as necessary on startup procedures, detect malfunctions, oil filter and oil levels.
  • Communicate back tot the party being audited, the findings of the audit.
  • Proving out of new and proved operations.
  • Make surface plate, and optical comparator setups and hardness tests.
  • Use related precision measuring tooling, gauges, test equipment, and appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Maintain surveillance over machines, audit the checking of parts for machining and other related operations.
  • Make audit checks of castings, gears, cleanliness, dryness, hardness and appearance.
  • Follow non-confirming material procedure, make recommendations, and calculations.
  • Maintain records, prepare purchase order requisitions for approval by supervision.
  • Identify key characteristics that require operator verification.
  • Generate documents to be used by operators to verify/assist improvements (example total quality checksheet).
  • Develop continuous improvement efforts by guiding cross-functional problem solving teams and by implementing, training and auditing statistical process control (SPC).
  • Be aware of, and have an understanding of the Health & Safety Policy.
  • You have the responsibility to incorporate the Health and Safety concepts when carrying out procedures and work tasks.
  • Initiate action to prevent non-compliance with legal or policy requirements.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend solutions and verify their implementation.
  • Control activities until required changes are carried out.
  • Act in emergencies.
  • Provide resources if in a position to do so.
  • Be aware of, and have an understanding of the Environmental Policy.
  • Follow work instructions and procedures to ensure compliance with the policy when they apply to your job responsibilities.
  • Know the significant impacts the campus has on the environment.
  • Know and follow emergency & evacuation procedures.


Qualifications


What we look for
Required

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and general drawing arrangements

Ability to read and interpret measuring tape accurately to measure and cut materials
Ability to apply measuring specifications to equipment and products
Knowledge of hand tools.
Effective communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
Ability to maintain clean and safe work area and/or equipment
