This position will be responsible to:

  • Responsible for planning and execution of projects and duties aiming at efficient operation of the department in regards to empty repositioning and equipment control.
  • Identifies equipment surplus and deficit areas (equipment imbalances) in the region.
  • Ensures adequate empty loadings taking into consideration equipment imbalances, empty dwell times & overdue levels to guarantee acceptable fulfillment factor on each vessel/service/port in our region.
  • Reconciles equipment requests from agents and supplies equipment as per trade requirements and HO approval.
  • Monitors empty loading performances and prepares weekly & monthly reports.
  • Identifies idle / overdue equipment (full and empty), issues instructions to agents for action. Works with agents and HO towards reduction of overdues / idles in the region and reduction of equipment dwell time.
  • Monitors and improves container tracking performance and quality.
  • Produces weekly equipment reports, such as stock summary, overdue reports, reefer forecast, overdue reefer equipment > 14 days, overdue special equipment inventory, idle full units > 180 days.
  • Calculates, monitors and improves logistics KPIs.
  • Enforces compliance with standing logistics instructions, advisories and procedures by agents. Coordinates and liaises with agents, HO & CCC commercial and cost control teams to achieve logistics targets and reduce logistics costs.
  • Generates and analyzes data to identify, reduce costs, improves logistics KPIs.
  • Provide orientation and training to agents upon request to improve their understanding of existing tools and procedures.
  • Handles various equipment situations such as redeliveries, mispicks, overdue on board, missing units, sold boxes, one-way units, off-hire units, etc.
  • Manage genset and chassis fleet: inventory, tracking, reporting.
  • All other duties assigned

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective Presentation Skills.
  • Mid - Level to advanced level computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to think and act independently
  • Detailed and multi-task oriented.
  • Team player
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required

Skill Sets / Education & Experience preferred:

  • Experience in logistics/cargo operations/shipping preferred
  • Knowledge of databases is a plus
