CALSTART is hiring a Lead Project Manager Commercial ZEV Corridor Development to manage the technical development and implementation of Commercial Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Corridors for deployment of electric charging and hydrogen fueling for medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs. The Lead Project Manager will be responsible for managing the technical strategy, project design, and technical assistance needs for implementation of public charging and hydrogen fueling along transportation corridors. The Lead Project Manager will support corridor and public fueling technical assistance needs across the Clean Fuels and Infrastructure Team including the California Energy Commission's EnergIIZE Commercial Vehicles Project and Research Hub for Electric Technologies in Truck Applications (RHETTA), CALSTART's national strategy for commercial ZEV corridors, and the Global Drive to Zero Program. The Lead Project Manager will report to the Deputy Director of Innovative Infrastructure Partnerships.

Additionally, the Lead Project Manager will:

  • Manage project design and development of Commercial ZEV Corridors. Manage and coordinate project design, timeline, scope and budget, partnership/stakeholder development, technical eligibility and requirements, utility and energy supplier coordination, site development and planning, and infrastructure deployment coordination and implementation.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement strategy for Commercial ZEV and Truck Drayage Working Group activities. Manage development of engagement strategy and outreach to support development and ongoing project improvements, awareness building for project participation, technology and infrastructure needs assessment, identification of barriers and solution-finding, and market transformation strategy development and implementation. A
  • Manage technical assistance for public charging and hydrogen fueling for EnergIIZE Commercial Vehicles Project and other Commercial ZEV Incentive Programs. Provide technical guidance for determining technical eligibility for project participation, technical assistance to project participants on infrastructure planning and deployment best practices, and hosting or supporting informational and technical assistance webinars/workshops. Work with Technical Advisor on providing informational and technical guidance tools and resources for the Clean Fuels and Infrastructure's resource and technical assistance hub "Infrastructure Readiness Center" (IRC) for initiative incentive projects.
  • Manage tracking of emerging technical and finance business models for public charging and hydrogen refueling infrastructure. Manage ongoing evaluation of infrastructure technology developments and deployment strategies for electric charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure. Track technology and solutions and share with organization and team to support technology advancement. Track and support inclusion of innovative business and finance tools to support the business case for commercial ZEV adoption including charge as a service (CaaS), truck as a service (TaaS), etc.
  • Manage team to support development and implementation of incentive projects. Manage project tasks and assignments, and performance review.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in business development, environmental management, environmental policy or equivalent training and experience.
  • Five years' experience working in clean transportation and management of zero emission vehicle projects and programs.
  • Experience managing technology development and demonstration projects.
  • Experience managing large scale clean vehicle/infrastructure incentive/deployment programs.
  • Experience managing public charging/fueling infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations and applying strategies to promote equity and environmental justice.
  • Experience managing teams, team development, and performance management.
  • Exceptional ability to organize and engage with a broad set of stakeholders and to move discussions to consensus and action.
  • Strong negotiator and ability to engender trust with stakeholders.Knowledgeable about the commercial vehicle sector, including truck classes, applications, and segmentation.
  • Knowledge of electric charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure.
  • Exceptional technical project and team management skills including the management of operational plans, goals, objectives, project scopes with tasks/deliverables and timelines.
  • Exceptional policy and technical analysis skills.
  • Exceptional writing, presentation and speaking skills.
  • Strong skills with database management and use of Microsoft excel, R and other analysis software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degrees in business, policy or science or environmental management.
  • Project management certification PMP/PMI or related.
  • Deep understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Knowledge and experience with policy impacts on customer and ZEV related purchase decisions.
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills.
  • Strong proposal and policy writing experience
  • Market analysis skills.
