What will you do?

You will assist engineers and scientists in developing new or updated electronics and electro-mechanical systems or components for innovative analytical instruments.

  • You will set up electronic systems and devices, assemble and connect system components.
  • You will test, troubleshoot, modify and repair malfunctions in circuitry in existing electronic products, equipment, and controls.
  • You will assist in electronic component layouts and create schematics for PCBAs.
  • You will assist in general procurement of components and hardware for the engineering development team.
How will you get here?
  • An AA degree in electronics or electrical engineering, the completion of an electronics technician certification program or U.S. military electronics technical school.
Experience:
  • 5+ years hands on experience assembling, repairing, troubleshooting and inspecting electrical or electronic systems as well as electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with using MS Office software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with using an electronics CAD package such as OrCAD and 3-D CAD packages such as SolidWorks to create schematics and electro-mechanical drawings for manufacturing is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to understand electrical diagrams, electrical and mechanical drawings, as well as written instructions and specifications.
  • Ability to solder, assemble and build PCBAs from schematics and electro-mechanical assemblies from drawings.
  • Hands on experience with multimeter and oscilloscope to fix PCBAs.
  • Ability to create drawings of electro-mechanical assemblies with practical knowledge of general drafting practices. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ANSI- Y14.5 is a plus.
  • The ability to work with team members across fields as well as good trouble-shooting skills, creative problem solver and a positive demeanor is a must.
  • Willing to learn to use a business spend management (BSM) tool such as Coupa to procure electronic and mechanical hardware and handle payment.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $32.09-$48.14.
