As a Lead Data Governance Engineer, you'll be a leader, creative contributor, and mentor to the DraftKings Data Governance program. You will help lead the strategy and implementation used to enable our Data Governance and Compliance programs. This job includes working with our Compliance, IT, Engineering, Product Management, Project Management and Subject Matter Experts across the organisation. You'll work to define requirements and business processes as well as implement controls to manage and protect our data making sure we meet global privacy requirements. What you'll do as a Lead Data Governance Engineer:

  • Collaborate and serve as technical lead to design, develop and support scripts, APIs, and other solutions to facilitate integration across tools and data sources
  • Build solutions to serve compliance customers' requests
  • Assist in the integration of Data Governance controls in existing business and technical processes
  • Conduct ongoing review of Data Governance artifacts for necessary controls and technical information
  • Lead and support enterprise metadata identification and cataloging efforts
  • Provide technical subject matter expert knowledge and consulting on data usage, data quality, and data management techniques
  • Assist in integration of Data Governance controls in existing business and technical processes
  • Continually improve the integrity of governance and data through the delivery of validated, accurate sources
  • Support data catalog, data lineage, data privacy requirements and other Data Governance efforts
  • Be flexible and able to rapidly adapt
  • Work with data stewards, subject matter experts, and IT to ensure ongoing refine of controls and other technical aspects of the governance framework
  • Work with Compliance to ensure regulatory requirements are adhered to and embedded in data processes. This includes, but not limited to, PII/PGI/CCPA/GDPR/PCI
What skills you'll use:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Data Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, data engineering, or a related role
  • A passion for Data Governance combined with strong knowledge of Data Governance principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) and change management
  • Experience with data security, as well as CCPA and GDPR privacy laws and regulations
  • Development experience using languages such as Python and work in AWS
  • Relational database experience including schema design and SQL.
  • Experience with data catalogs, business glossaries, data governance and metadata management
  • Ability to understand data interdependencies in connection with business requirements
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
