Responsibilities

The Lead Costing Analyst is the owner and leader responsible for the cost accounting team in the creation,maintenance and oversight of cost accounting functions, corporate overhead allocation functions, and coordination ofdepartmental & system costing/profitability reporting services for WellStar.

This role is expected to work well independently with minimal guidance from the Manager of Data Transformation. This role will be expected to coordinate the costing processes and to develop & maintain a good working relationship with system and departmental leaders. The Lead Costing Analyst will ensure that the costing team creates and maintain all
aspects of the costing processes, including but not limited to, the mapping of job code and departments/accounts to costing categories, overhead allocation, expense reclasses, relative value units (RVUs) development, and the creation of procedural costing. The Lead Costing Analyst must also ensure that the corporate overhead allocation is created and maintained- both during the annual process and with vigilance throughout the year whenever system changes are made that will impact costing. This position will oversee the creation & update of documentation - to ensure that
costing remains current throughout the year. Under the leadership of the Manager of Data Transformation, thisindividual will serve as the primary costing SME and be expected to demonstrate an extensive knowledge of the costing functions to support the costing team and facilitate system costing needs.

The Lead Costing Analyst must comfortably be able to provide general coordination for the costing team and to serveas both a mentor and audit resource for the Sr. Costing Analyst and the Costing Analyst - as well as the entire EI teamfor costing functions. Under the direction of the Manager of Data Transformation, this role will serve to help coordinate costing and/or profitability projects/reporting within the EI department and serves as the primary training resource for thecosting team.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education:
• BS/BA required
• Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and with healthcare focus strongly recommended
• MBA/MHA preferred

Required Minimum Licensure/Certification: n/a

Required Minimum Experience:
• 6+ years working directly with cost accounting or accounting/financial data - including experience designing,
developing and maintaining costing processes
• Some leadership experience preferred
• Experience with Allscripts EPSi costing is preferred
• Experience and familiarity working with healthcare specific data, concepts and terminology preferred

Required Minimum Skills:
• Strong Analytical skill set demonstrated through prior roles that involve analysis of financial, accounting or
costing data
• Strong aptitude toward understanding technology concepts and techniques and demonstrated ability of being a
quick learner in the use of new technology
• Understanding of relational databases is recommended
• Advanced skill set working with Microsoft Excel - including pivots, VLUs, macros, etc.
• Familiarity with common statistically appropriate means of data and process analysis
• Personal desire for continuous knowledge and skill growth and development
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy and a sense of personal accountability.
• Self-motivated and well organized with strong time management skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment - including acting as a mentor to the Senior Costing
Analyst(s) and the Costing Analyst(s)
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of the organization
