In Fugro's Marine Geoconsulting service line our geoscientists and engineers have expertise in guiding data collection programs; exploring ocean basins; interpreting seafloor geo-morphology, being involved in environmental, carbon sequestration, and geochemical exploration studies; identifying and analyzing geohazards; and advising on foundation siting and design and routing pipelines and cables.
The Laboratory Geotechnical Engineer - Marine at Fugro is entrusted with executing basic soil strength and index tests proficiently, while also contributing to advanced geotechnical testing, training, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards within the Marine Geo consulting service line.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
- Work closely with the Exploration Service Line project managers/senior staff regarding operations management.
- Process and review laboratory test results for accuracy and summarize these in report form for client's analysis.
- Train laboratory technicians and data processors in correct testing and data reduction procedures for laboratory tests.
- Perform advanced geotechnical tests as needed.
- Assist in the development of new procedures and spreadsheets for non-standard tests or special projects as assigned.
- Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including safety programs and quality management systems.
- Complete reports to meet deadlines, and assist senior professionals as requested.
- Meet utilization goals as determined by the lab manager or supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
- Possess current driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
- Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with a discipline in geotechnical engineering.
- Have 1 or more years work experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Extensive experience with office software and data presentation.
- Knowledge of geotechnical soil testing procedures and data application.
