Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, in concert with the administrative director and medical director, testing, policy, and direction for the Clinical Cytogenetics laboratory;
  • Responsible for analysis and interpretation of results for all testing and issuance of accurate, timely reports;
  • Interprets all available information to form a diagnosis, creates a report and contacts physicians as necessary;
  • Provides technical management of cytogenetic analysis and karyotyping on a wide variety of specimens to provide quality clinical information;
  • Provides leadership and direction to technical staff to ensure quality patient care;
  • Maintains a solid understanding of cytogenetic techniques and new developments in the field of cytogenetics;
  • Researches and develops new analytical procedures pertinent to the department;
  • Instructs residents, fellows, other health care professionals, and future clinical and laboratory professionals in genetics and genomics;
  • Serves as consultant to medical staff;
  • Ensures compliance standards are met according to governmental and accreditation standards;
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
A hybrid work environment including both on-site/in-laboratory and remote work.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), or doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM);
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice medicine, osteopathy, or podiatry in the state of Pennsylvania;
  • Experience: Four years of training or experience, or both, in genetics, two of which have been in clinical cytogenetics;
  • Board Certified in Clinical Cytogenetics.

  • Education: Doctorate in in a biological science, including biochemistry, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution;
  • Experience: Four years of training or experience, or both, in genetics, two of which have been in clinical cytogenetics;
  • Board Certified in Clinical Cytogenetics.
Preferred:
  • Pediatric Cytogenetics experience preferred.
  • Oncology Cytogenetics experience preferred.
A hybrid work environment including both on-site/in-laboratory and remote work.
