Position Summary

The Larson Lab at the University of Denver is seeking a part-time Lab Research Technician in evolutionary genomics. This position requires a BS in biology. Candidates with experience in molecular biology, population genetics and/or bioinformatics are preferred. The ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively with other members of the lab is critical to the success of this position.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

In addition to following the University of Denver policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to; animal care, field work, genomic library preparation and/or bioinformatic analyses. The candidate will be expected to participate fully in the lab environment, including attending lab meetings and presenting data. This position will also contribute to training and mentoring undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in biology prior to the start date.
  • 1 year laboratory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in animal care.
  • Experience in generating and analyzing genetic or genomic data.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The term for this position is for June 15th - August 15th.


Hourly Range
The hourly range for the position is $15.87 - $17.62.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
