What You Will Contribute:

This position has responsibility for all activities and personnel in the Milwaukee Hydro Lab as well as the Milwaukee Model Shop. This includes personnel supervision, capital projects, equipment uptime, and all software used in the two facilities. The lab supervisor interfaces with design engineering, operations, and quality functions as well as developing reporting for management. Ensures compliance of team with company code of conduct, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

Personnel Management:

  • Provide daily direction to lab and model shop personnel on priority and scheduling
  • Supervise team members and identify performance improvements. Facilitate training. Conduct performance evaluations. Coach and influence members of the team to build strong interpersonal and communication skills, focusing on delivering world-class flow instrumentation technologies to our customers.
  • Direct Reports - Mix of exempt and non-exempt. lab technicians, test engineer, model shop technicians
  • Maintain safe working environment for all personnel working in hydro lab or model shop

Facility:
  • Ownership of equipment capability, processes, and standardization. This includes both hydro-lab as well as model shop. This also includes understanding of data acquisition systems
  • Own acquisition and maintenance of external lab accreditation
  • Own development and maintenance of job scheduling system
  • Develop metrics for lab and model shop that are business relevant
  • Ownership of PM system for all lab and model shop equipment
  • Develop and execute capital additions and replacements as needed to support business priorities

Processes:
  • Continued development of testing processes and procedures to standardize across lines and products
  • Implement standard best organization practices such as 5S
  • Engage with local lab consortium to develop pipeline for industry best practices

Qualifications:
  • Engineering ​Bachelor's degree in mechanical or test engineering or a related field
  • At least five years of experience - lab management preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
