Kendall Square Campus PM & Change Associate Director

Location: Waltham/Cambridge, MA

In this role you will lead the delivery, estate planning & change for AstraZeneca in Kendall Square, capitalizing on the full potential of AstraZeneca's physical infrastructure, working with leadership areas to understand and meet future facility resource demands.

Principal responsibilities are to ensure that our new site in Kendall Square is:

  • strategically focused to support AstraZeneca's key corporate objectives.
  • focused on driving the Operational readiness and assurance of the new Kendall Square capabilities.
  • well managed and operationally effective, having in place robust and efficient systems and processes, including capital projects.
  • underpinned by a strong service ethos with customers at the forefront of all activities.

2024/2025 focus is on Transition.
  • Responsible for the transition of new Kendall Square Facility into operational readiness, leading a world class Operational Readiness, transition and soft landings process minimizing disruption to science
  • Coordination of the resources and activities to ensure on time delivery and orderly occupancy of real estate -from maximizing the benefits of early access opportunities, through oversight of Commissioning, Ops Readiness, Resources / services ready
  • Scheduling of all Operational Readiness Activities to ensure effective handoff between Design & Engineering and Operations Team - oversight of activities (sequencing, duration etc.) of Operational Readiness workstreams, ensuring activities dovetail with the handover activities of the D&E team - ready for the change of responsibilities and ownership.
  • Orchestrate, Oversee and Coordinate the Exit / demobilization /Move management from vacating AstraZeneca/Alexion Real estate to full occupancy of delivered real estate
  • Coordinate the activities of different groups to deliver on time
  • Responsible for providing informed, timely and accurate advice to the Senior Management Team on all major aspects of Estates development.
  • Plan / coordinate Building / Tenant operations relationship - understanding interdependencies and consequently building business resilience plans
  • Development of Operational business resilience plans for key stages of risk throughout the programme.

Basic Qualifications:
  • B.Eng or B.Sc in Chemical or Process engineering or relevant program and 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • OR MS Degree and 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • A qualification in project management is required (PMP, Prince2 etc.)
  • Experience in development, monitoring, and adjusting project schedules to meet internal goals and delivery expectations.
  • Knowledge and experience with facility start-up projects (brown field or green field)
  • Experienced in the management of complex cross functional projects.
  • GMP knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience managing operational readiness activities in a site start-up / large internal project scenario
  • Technical / Engineering knowledge of Upstream and / or Downstream biologics systems and processes
  • Postgraduate qualification in an engineering or science discipline
