Are you a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with child and adolescent experience and an interest in applying those skills clinically in Berkshire County?

Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Forensic Clinician in the Juvenile Court Clinicprogram at Behavioral Health Network!

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Juvenile Court Clinic with the following:

  • Providing court-ordered evaluations in Care and Protection, Child Requiring Assistance (CRA), Delinquency, Youthful Offender cases.
  • Conducting evaluations for emergency and civil commitment proceedings to determine if individuals require psychiatric hospitalization or substance abuse commitment.
  • Testifying in legal proceedings.
  • Providing short-term therapy to those youth involved with the juvenile court and waiting to be seen by a community provider.
  • Receiving the supervision and training necessary to become a Certified Juvenile Court Clinician to take on more challenging cases and enjoy the independence in managing your own caseload.
  • Consulting with court personal and engaging in many exciting initiatives within the juvenile justice system throughout Western Massachusetts' four counties: Berkshire, Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin.

**NOTICE**
In accordance with the BHN Mandatory COVID vaccine policy - all staff, interns, temps, residents and contractors are required to be fully vaccinated no later than day one of employment. Medical or religious exemptions will be offered and must be approved prior to starting work.

The same guidelines noted above apply during flu season (defined as December 1st - through end of flu season as announced by the CDC) for BHN's Mandatory Influenza Vaccine policy.

BHN's Juvenile Court Clinic program consists of a multi-disciplinary professional team. They are approachable, collaborative, cohesive, down to earth, knowledgeable, and supportive colleagues. All of the team members are highly motivated, independent, and demonstrate exceptional organizational and clinical skills. Services are provided for youth involved in both the Court and child welfare systems. The Juvenile Court Clinic facilitates a multi-disciplinary meeting with families, the Department of Children and Families, Department of Youth Services, and court personnel to promote the development of enhanced cross-system practices that enable achievement of improved youth and family outcomes. The program has obtained the trust and respect from the Courts in which they served. The staff is known for being responsive to the needs of partner agencies and allies in the legal system. Their dedication to the work grows out of a passion to support the learning and growth of adolescents and families who are court involved.

Qualifications/Requirements

What are we looking for in a Forensic Clinician?
  • Masters of Social Work and must be licensed to practice independently (LICSW) in Massachusetts or have LICSW-MA within 9 months of hire (required).
  • Meets eligibility for Certified Juvenile Court Clinician I or Candidate.
  • At least one year of experience working with children and families (required).
  • Knowledge of child development theories.
  • Commitment to taking a developmental approach to evaluations and treatment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated exceptional organization, time-management, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Commitment to being part of a program that is highly respected.
  • Commitment towards racial and social justice and equity, including a culturally humble approach to clinical work.
  • Clinical Writing Sample (needed prior to being interviewed) (required).
