The Lean Specialist is responsible for serving as a coach for process improvements within Operations. The successful candidate will support/lead project teams and strategic initiatives. They will assist in developing and delivering training activities. Responsibilities also include the proper application of the following per AZ Standard: Lean Tools, Project Management, and Process/Change Management. The focus is to support the PA value stream in driving higher performance through process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and change management as required to Support the AstraZeneca Supply System
  • Design and Implement KPI System; Apply Visual Control Strategies
  • Trainer for Lean tools per AZ Standard
  • Facilitate and/or coach on the application of continuous improvement tools including: Kaizen, DMAIC, SMED
  • Work with the Management Team (SLT and ELT) in the development and execution of Lean initiatives, including Lean Leadership
  • Network within AZ and benchmark externally to identify improvement opportunities
  • Identify and achieve process/quality improvements through Lean initiatives.
  • Coach operations functions on process ownership, following Standard Ways of Working and having a sustainable process for improvement
  • These initiatives will require a balance of technical and people management skills: Expectation includes a hands-on teamwork approach to problems, planning, and people associated with all aspects of the initiatives.
  • Apply principles of logical, scientific thinking and continuous improvement concepts to a wide range of practical problems
Qualifications:

Junior Lean Specialist:

Required:
  • 2-4 years or more work experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating lean leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in driving process improvements.
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree
Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (STEM, Business)
  • Yellow Belt (or higher) with formal training
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of the DMAIC process and Lean Tools such as SMED, Kaizen Blitz, etc.
  • Healthcare, pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience preferred.
  • Effective internal consulting skills with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects

Senior Lean Specialist:

Required:
  • 5 years or more work experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating lean leadership
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) with formal training
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating teams and groups in process improvements.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (STEM, Business)
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of the DMAIC process and Lean Tools such as SMED, Kaizen Blitz, etc.
  • Healthcare, pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience preferred.
  • Effective internal consulting skills with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects
