Job Description
• Meets accounting financial objectives by assisting with revenue forecasting, annual budget preparation, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variance, identifying trends and initiating or recommending corrective actions.
• Analyzes and compares expenditures at multiple laboratory location.
• Develops and maintains monthly and quarterly financial reports for the management and executive teams.
• Monitors inventory and inventory adjustments to ensure financials reflect actual inventory within the laboratories.
• Monitors and tracks sales and use tax.
• Maintains and records fixed assets.
• Creates Capital Expenditure requests.
• Manages the company's day-to-day purchasing activities and proposes improvements to strengthen vendor relationships and lower the cost of business.
• Obtains and analyzes quotes and bids for leasehold improvements, equipment and other large expenditures for multiple locations.
• Determines cost of operations in comparison to standard costs.
• Collects operational data to determine areas for cost and efficiency improvements.
• Performs accounting specific functions and reporting during client invoicing cycles.
• Performs routine accounting functions to include: accounts receivable, accounts payable and monthly closing activities.
• Participates in inventories of the laboratories.
• Manages processes that are utilized by and affect 4 different locations across the US.
• Occasionally coordinates activities performed by accounting clerks and administrative personnel at each US Food Microbiology laboratory
• Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting AND
• 2+ years of experience in a scientific laboratory
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance AND
• 3 or more years of experience in a commercial laboratory performing microbiological analysis
