Position Overview:

The IT Operational Assurance Manager is entrusted with leading a team to ensure the IT organization adheres to established best practices, ensuring that controls are meticulously executed in alignment with company policies and standards. This role necessitates collaboration with diverse internal teams, including application owners, business stakeholders, IT security, infrastructure, Project Management Office, and managed service vendors, to guarantee the sustained maintenance of control processes with well-documented procedures. Essential duties include establishing standardized processes across applications to satisfy IT General Controls evidence requirements. Deep familiarity with Motiva's IT landscape and business operations is paramount to ensure the safeguarding and optimal functioning of the company's IT systems.

The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned manager skilled at inspiring teams, solving complex problems, and harmonizing people and procedures. Additionally, they must exhibit proficiency across various IT domains, including application development and support, network and security, database management, and business continuity. While Motiva's historical IT compliance efforts concentrated on financially critical applications, a strategic shift towards a more comprehensive and performance-oriented approach demands a Manager of IT Operational Assurance who can balance protection levels with business imperatives. Thus, beyond technical expertise, this role demands robust management and communication skills, coupled with extensive business acumen, to engage stakeholders in compliance discussions from a risk-centric perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage a team of IT professionals.
  • Collaborate with business units and internal departments to enforce standard IT operational processes.
  • Facilitate the creation and modification of IT standard operating control procedures.
  • Conduct training sessions for IT and business owners on security and compliance requirements to mitigate IT risks.
  • Design and conduct compliance reviews to ensure adherence to company policies and standards.
  • Partner with IT security to review risk assessments, analyze the effectiveness of IT Operations control activities, and provide actionable recommendations to Motiva's Leadership.
  • Follow up on deficiencies identified in monitoring reviews, self-assessments, automated assessments, and internal and external audits, ensuring appropriate remediation measures are taken.
  • Manage IT application risk assessments/audits and define applicable controls for mitigation.
  • Bridge gaps between desired compliance levels and current maturity levels.

Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT software development, support, and infrastructure, demonstrating a progressive increase in responsibility within an organization of similar operational scale and geographic footprint.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing a team of IT professionals.
  • Proven track record in remediating IT controls and compliance issues.
  • Experience in effectively navigating audits, demonstrating a thorough understanding of audit processes.
  • Proficient in IT General Controls standards and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes ensuring compliance with IT security policies and standards.
  • Strong aptitude for innovative problem-solving.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in relevant field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
