Description

Governors State University (GovState) is seeking to hire an Information Technology (IT) Audio/Visual Technician Ill to provide audio/visual design, deployment, repair and troubleshooting, and technical support for GovState classrooms, conference rooms, lecture halls, and events. This position interacts with almost every level of the organization (board members, administrators, faculty, staff, and students), where being courteous and maintaining a high level of professionalism is critical. This position may also provide technical support for computer operations, repair, imaging, deployment, user support (hardware and software), monitoring service desk ticket queues, creating and resolving tickets, and various other duties as assigned. This position also monitors, operates, coordinates, assists, and trains others in operating audio/visual equipment hardware/software, computer hardware/software, and peripherals to achieve desired results. Works independently with minimal supervision, creates documentation when necessary, may conduct and/or assist in training sessions, and assists in scheduling and distributing work with other staff members, student workers, and temporary workers. Updates supervisor on the status of projects and technical issues. Exercises sound judgment and creativity in correctly selecting and applying processes and procedures and determining when to refer problems to their supervisor or the next level of support. May provide information and training to faculty, staff, students, or the general public on established policies and procedures and/or services provided.

Essential Responsibilities

45% - Provide AudioNisual Support which includes but not limited to, hardware and software installation, design, modification, deployment, training, and repair.
30% - Provide Technology Support which includes but not limited to, hardware and software installation, modification, deployment, training, and repair.
5% - Inventory Control which includes but not limited to, receiving and processing GovState technology equipment and/or the disposal of GSU technology equipment inventory in accordance with GovState (Property Control)/ITS procedures.
5% - Equipment processing of which includes but not limited to, coordinating, documenting, and processing GovState technology equipment transfers between various department locations in accordance with GovState/lTS procedures.
5% - Assist Help Desk Manager in ensuring student workers stay on task.
10% - Other duties as assigned of which include but not limited to participating in the
administration of various applications.

Starting Salary: $62,111.48.
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years from the following categories:
A. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management,
Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following
conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
* 30 semester hours equals one (1) year
* Associate's degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
* 90 semester hours equals two (2) years
* Bachelor's degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years
B. Progressive work experience in IT-related profession including functions such as
hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
3. A minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting audio/visual technology.
4. Strong understanding of audio/visual technology.
5. Extron programming experience or programming experience of similarity.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in technology.
* Extron certification(s)
* Experience working in a higher education environment.
* Ability to provide a detailed Audio/Visual Design including providing a detailed list of equipment.
* Audio/Visual implementation experience.
* CompTIA certifications such as A+ Certification, Network+, Security+, etc.
* Microsoft certifications such as MCSA, MOS, MCSE, etc.
* Other industry certifications such as, Linux, Apple/Mac, lvanti, etc.
* Open to continuous learning and advancing skills.
* Ability to multi-task as well as work under pressure.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Supervisory experience.
