JOB SUMMARYInternsin hospitality will be able to learn many aspects of dynamic property such asfront desk, housekeeping, maintenance, finance, food & beverage and more!Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, have a strong desire to learn andadapt, multi-task, and possess a professional attitude. Candidate must have aguest-centric mindset and willing to assist guests and colleagues in allfashions. This internship is an opportunity to grow and learn about a midsizecorporation and job responsibilities can be expanded to allow for someexploration in areas of interest to the intern.
This isa sample curriculum subject to change based on job availability andlocation. 8 Week Curriculum Sample-2 Weeks- Front Desk: Students will gain experience in many tasksincluding, but not limited to:
- Greet and welcome guests
- Meet the needs of a diverse customer base and solve problems that might arise during their stay
- Receive calls and forward messages
- Create and maintain reservations from phone calls, online, and walk in customers
- General administrative functions of the property
2 Weeks-Housekeeping: Students will gain experience in many tasksincluding, but not limited to:
- Perform various cleaning activities
- Check for any inadequacies in facilities or amenities
- Ensure room hygiene is up to standard
- Restock depleted supplies
- Handle customer requests and complaints
2 Weeks-Food and Beverage: Students will gain experience in many tasksincluding, but not limited to:
- Prepare food
- Ensure kitchen hygiene is up to standard
- Work with Chef(s) to come up with ideas for new dishes
- Work with a team in a restaurant setting as well as a catered event setting (if available at location)
2 Weeks- Finance/Administration: Students will gainexperience in many tasks including, but not limited to:
- Help in overseeing daily hotel operations
- Take part in deciding pricing and offered services
- Handle customer complaints and feedback
- Assist during training for personnel
PHYSICAL AND MENTALREQUIREMENTS
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.
- Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to stand for the entire workday and to climb steps regularly.
- Withstanding temperature extremes in indoor and outdoor environments.
