The Manager, International Tax & Planning will focus on U.S. international income tax reporting and compliance, international aspects of the U.S. GAAP worldwide income tax provision, international restructurings and expansion and tax planning to include M&A work and the minimization of GILTI and maximization of FDII. Ensure the segregation of duties for the preparation and sign-off on key international tax work streams, supporting strong internal controls. This role will also dedicate time to monitoring for and understanding all new international related legislative changes, which will support accurate reporting of international tax related technical positions.

The international tax manager will have the following key responsibilities in part to help ensure technical competency within the tax department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Planning - Mergers and Acquisitions
    • Partner with business units to actively identify and research tax planning opportunities.
    • Implement structural tax planning strategies.
    • Work with business units to develop and implement tax efficient transfer pricing policies.
    • Interact with business, tax, and other individuals to ensure accurate implementation of all tax planning strategies.
    • Manage and participate in reviews of ongoing business activities and proposed transactions to properly advise management of tax consequences and opportunities.
  • Financial Reporting
    • Support the accurate preparation of EnPro's Federal / Foreign income provision and income tax balance sheet accounts for financial reporting purposes.
    • Evaluate uncertain tax reporting positions and business combinations in order to properly reflect the tax treatment of such items in EnPro's financial statements.
    • Contribute to EnPro's internal control process for financial reporting purposes.
    • Analysis of the tax aspects of financial projections and forecasts.
    • Assist with technology and process improvements to ensure accurate, timely information provided to EnPro's financial reporting group.
  • Tax Reform Planning
    • Accurately calculate the impact of the major tax reform items for U.S. and Foreign entities (GILTI, FDII, 163(j), and BEAT).
    • Identify tax planning strategies that will enable EnPro to maximize the FDII deduction while minimizing the GILTI impact
    • Research the latest regulations as it pertains to changing refinement of the TCJA legislation.
    • Optimize the foreign tax credit utilization in an effort to reduce the U.S. cash tax liability.
    • Model the impact of tax reform items in real time for strategic acquisitions and dispositions.
    • Stay abreast of all Pillar 2 developments by country.
  • Leadership and teamwork
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the international section of the US income tax group.
    • Coordinate and consult with tax leadership and other functional areas within EnPro.
    • Direct external tax advisors on a project-by-project basis.
  • Tax Return Compliance
    • Manage the accurate reporting of the international aspects of the Federal income tax return.
    • Monitor and manage international tax compliance ensuring timely completion of returns and return to provision data is made available for income tax provision purposes
    • Review alternative tax positions in order to determine the most appropriate cost effective filing position.
    • Review the completion of the Form 1118 ensuring that all foreign tax credits are correctly being utilized and maintained.
Background and Skills
  • Masters in Tax or CPA preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in Big Four or Fortune 500, Industry experience.
  • Tax preparation software experience (Corptax international tax compliance software).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong ability to drive process improvements.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • In depth technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues.
