Starting pay: $22.35 per hour.

Shift:

Full-time, Day Shift (40 hours)

9:30 am - 6:00 pm

Some weekend and on-call work required.

Summary:

The Instrumentation Technician III performs corrective and preventative maintenance on various types of equipment used in the care and wellbeing of our staff, patients and their families.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determining the means and methods to be used in accomplishing assigned tasks and secures appropriate materials, supplies, tools and equipment to accomplish the task.
  • Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls and calibrates all types of instrumentation equipment including sterilizers, aspirators, regulators, audiometers, air compressors, water baths, ophthalmoscopes, scales, pumps, percussors, stretchers, beds, wheelchair, TVs, nurse call system, paging system, etc.
  • Makes use of computing manuals, catalogs, tables, charts and other standard data sources.
  • Selects, measures, cuts, bends, fits, assembles, splices, joins, solders, couples, fastens, tubing, hose, wire, etc.
  • Utilizes hardware supplies and equipment such as hangers, fittings, tiles, flanges, connectors, gaskets, couplings, fasteners, bearing, coils, etc.
  • Uses test equipment, gauges, meters, and measuring instruments such as rule, level, square, plumb bob dial indicator, tachometer, thermometer, anemometer, MultiMate, antenna, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, leak detector, velometer, manometer psychrometer, hydrometer, hygrometer, etc.
  • Utilizes hand tools, special equipment and devices such as wire cutters, crimpers, hammers, chisels, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, shears, pop rivet tools, files, reamers, tops dies, soldering iron, torches, swedging tool, tube, and pipe cutters, hoist, sling, lifts, etc.
  • Operates power tools and equipment such as electric and pneumatic drills, hammer drills, screwdrivers, saws, cutters, sprayers, circulators, vacuum pumps and cleaners, etc.
  • Inspects equipment to detect electrical leaks and other problems.
  • Maintains work areas, keeps tools and equipment operational, clean and orderly.
  • Observes safety practices and standards. Wears protective clothing and equipment as required or assigned.
  • Orders parts using the SAP system in order to complete job assignments.
  • Responsible for maintaining all corrective and preventative maintenance logs in the medical equipment management system.
  • Assists IT IV, when asked, in estimating materials, supplies, tools and equipment required to perform work assignments that include the installation of new equipment.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Work requires a high school level of educational development and three years of previous experience.
  • Maryland Class C Driver's License required.
  • Work requires the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
  • Work requires the ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information. Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involve courtesy.

Required Physical, Mental, and Visual Abilities:
  • Lifting and/or carrying objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Pushing and/or pulling non-motorized equipment (e.g., stretchers, supply carts, mops) weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Climbing - ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, or ramps.
  • Stooping and bending.
  • Reaching and grasping objects.
  • Manipulating and operating power tools or machinery.
  • Walking and/or standing for extended periods of time
