Position Summary

Position: Human Resources Generalist

Location: Seneca Falls, NY

Education: Bachelors in Human Resources or related field is required

Experience: 2-4 years HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing setting is required, collective bargaining (union) experience is preferred however not required. Must have demonstrated experience in a professional HR role handling confidential information. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional, culturally sensitive approach. Attention to detail is required. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems is required.

General Summary: The HR Generalist, in conjunction with the Site HR Manager assists in delivering HR functional support to the facility as an employee advocate, administrative expert and business driver. The HR Generalist will have the opportunity to work cross functionally and within the full scope of generalist activity: employee relations, performance management, regulatory and legal compliance, policy administration, recruitment, employee training, and development in a collaborative, team-based environment to help the facility achieve their Operational Excellence goals.
Essential Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Working with the HR Manager, acts on the company's behalf to ensure consistent application of the provisions of the Labor Agreement; responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, bumping/bidding administration, employee communication, grievance processing and labor negotiations support.
  • Manages onboarding process and ensures support to both managers and employees as part of new hire process, conduct interviews, executes the termination process; conducts exit interviews, metrics, etc.
  • Responsible for routine HR metrics and report generation from the Work Day HRIS (headcount, attrition, turn over trends, assessments on processes etc.)
  • Maintains records of all labor relations activities in SFO. Updates and maintains grievance log. Participates in drafting answers to grievances and union informational requests, and in arbitration preparation and meetings.
  • Understands and interprets collective bargaining agreements and apply current contract provisions
  • Encourages and supports the union population to increase and optimize the use of local Kiosks and technology
  • HRIS data management in conjunction with HRIS and Shared Services teams, and maintenance of personnel (e.g., disability, FMLA, timekeeping) & training records.
  • Performs Workday audits to ensure accuracy
  • Investigates payroll and benefits issues
  • Assists with performance management reporting and deadlines
  • With Supervisors, manages time and attendance system and acts as a backup to processes weekly payroll
  • Works with Talent Management to provide HR support to all Seneca Fall site co-op's and co-op hiring managers; participates in the cross functional Industrial Process Co-Op Steering Committees
  • Provides support to the HR manger with other projects as needed
Position Requirements

Position Requirements:
  • 2-4 years minimum experience in a generalist role in a manufacturing environment handling confidential information is required
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in HR or related field is required
  • Union experience is a plus
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems is required, Work Day, Kronos, iCIMS is preferred
  • Must have strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Previous experience and understanding of LOA, FMLA is required
  • Must have an attention to detail, experience auditing reporting for accuracy is preferred
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment while maintaining a culturally sensitive approach
