Motion Technologies is one of four ITT Value Centers focused on the Transportation industry. The Motion Technologies Value Center generates over $862M in revenues and is made up of three businesses.

Position Summary

Position responsibilities will focus on recruiting and employee relations activities. Work activities will provide support for multiple manufacturing sites. Key goals are to partner with plant leadership and HR team to support HR initiatives, manage employee relations, and execute recruiting and onboarding activities. This position will be based in Blacksburg, VA USA.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Partners with leaders and key stakeholders to provide HR advice and counsel to coach, navigate and resolve employee relation issues.
  • Drive all aspects of recruiting for various roles including job requisitions, interviewing, and managing new hires through the pre-hire processes.
  • As assigned, organize and lead new hire oriboarding process, including benefits overview and policy distribution.
  • Identifies opportunities for leadership and employee training.
  • Facilitate recruiting activities in the iCIMS system (interviews, pre-hire process).
  • Maintain and oversee all personnel and employment records, ensuring accuracy and abiding by the organization's records retention schedule.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships of trust to foster transparency, open and honest two-way communication and collaboration.
  • Assists with distribution of employee communications and postings.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with both direct business partners and peripheral departments that interact with direct support groups (i.e. closely related departments, payroll, corporate HR, accounting, etc.).
  • Manages and provides support for employee engagement initiatives including HR events, team lunches, Town Hall Meetings, other Plant meetings, individual or team recognition events.
  • Proactively makes recommendations to improve HR operations and value-added to business operations.
  • Processes and maintain employee data updates through the HRIS system.
  • Works independently on objectives.
  • Additional responsibilities and assignment to be assigned as needed by management.
  • Travel expected: 10 - 20%.
Position Requirements

Position Requirements
  • 1 - 3 years' work experience in Human Resources as a Generalist, Specialist position or similar HR role required. Increasing roles and responsibilities preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR operations in a Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting HR operations in a Union environment preferred.
  • Strong employee relations skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgement and be a self-starter; Ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess the ability to work in a manufacturing facility. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
