With Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska, you'll serve the over 50 rural communities in the Yukon Delta Region who come to us for care. Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by JCAHO, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.

Position Summary:

Serve as primary counselor and advocate for village-based community Health Aides/Practitioners (CHA/Ps) and working in coordination with Health Aide Support/ Critical Incident Stress Management Program Clinical Coordinator and the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) response teams.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in human services or related field. CISM certified trainer preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working with adults and children in a Behavioral Health setting crisis intervention experience preferred.
  • BH Certification preferred.
  • Computer proficiency with various software and database systems, calculator, multi-line phone, fax/copy machine.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and ability to formulate and document its Five Axis diagnostic format
  • Ability to provide crisis BH assessment, treatment, and discharge planning services to adults in various states of emotional and mental turmoil.
  • Excellent human relations; ability to direct and coordinate staff and staff training and development; good verbal/written communications skills, work processing, spreadsheets; ability to treat clients and co-workers courteously and fairly, ability to do time management facility budgeting and facility grant management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of crisis, mental illness and emotional distress on individuals and their families.
  • Respect for the well-being and safety of individuals with mental and emotional impairments.
  • Supervises the Health Aide Support/ Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Counselor.
