Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a full-time Head Women's Soccer Coach / Instructor at the Walla Walla campus.

The Women's Soccer Coach oversees and manage all aspects of the Walla Walla Community College Women's Soccer Program. These aspects include but are not limited to recruitment and retention of student athletes, budget development and management, fundraising components for the program, scheduling and management of contests, facility management for practices and contests, and all other aspects necessary for the operation of a first class Soccer program. The Soccer coach will report directly to the Director of Athletics of Walla Walla Community College.
Instructors are credentialed, professional educators with the responsibility of providing a quality education for all WWCC students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning.
Essential Functions Soccer Coach:
Develop, along with the Athletic Director, a Soccer budget conducive to the operation of a first-class Soccer program. This budget should include scholarship funding, goods and services' needs, and travel expenditures.Manage the Soccer budget in an accurate and professional manner and operate the Soccer Program within the parameters of the agreed upon Soccer budget.Develop a fundraising system for the Soccer Program to enhance the needs of the program and to aid in the balancing of the Soccer budget if necessary.Recruit student athletes to the Soccer program in adequate numbers conducive to the development of a competitive team, but also within the desired management number as agreed to with the Athletic Director.Monitor the academic standing and progress of all student-athletes associated with the Soccer program, and uphold the student-athlete philosophy as defined by the Walla Walla Community College Athletic Department.Know and understand all appropriate NWAACC rules for competition, eligibility requirements, and generally understand the overall NWAACC Codebook regarding league operations for all Soccer programs.Supervise all Soccer student-athletes at all Walla Walla Community College sponsored Soccer events or any event in which the Walla Walla Community College Soccer Program is involved. Be present at all contests and road trips and strictly monitor the behavior of all student-athletes on road trips. Travel with Soccer student-athletes to events outside of Walla Walla and accompany them on road trips at all times.Enforce and support the Walla Walla Community College Athletic Department Code of Conduct regarding rules and regulations for all student-athletes at Walla Walla Community College, and report all violations and concerns to the Athletic Director immediately.Set up practice schedule and conduct all practices for Soccer participants unless otherwise cleared by the Athletic Director. Understand how to manage practices in a competitive but productive manner, and make certain all student-athletes are properly prepared for competition. Know and understand advanced knowledge of the sport, teaching techniques, communication concepts, and any other aspects that are imperative for quality teaching of advanced Soccer skills. Keep current on all Soccer skill and teaching innovations in the sport.Keep current on required CPR and First-Aid training and always maintain current qualifications in each.Promote the team concept as a member of the Athletic Department at Walla Walla Community College, not only within the Athletic Department but also within the entire Walla Walla Community College community. Help Athletic Director in all Athletic Department fundraising endeavors as requested.Successfully and satisfactorily, perform all other jobs acquired on the Walla Walla Community College campus as contractually assigned by the college administration.Attend all coaches meetings and keep updated on all Walla Walla Community College business.Perform any and all other job requirements as assigned by the Athletic Director within reasonable standards.Other duties as assigned within scope of practice. Essential Functions Instructor:Teaching includes both teaching and teaching-related activities. Teaching-related activities encompass classroom preparation, curriculum development, textbook orders, grading, availability during office hours, and development and preparation of student outcomes assessment. Specific responsibilities are:
Teach assigned classes at scheduled time and place.Demonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter.Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions. Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback so students are aware of their performance throughout the quarter. Assign and submit grades based upon results of evaluations and college grading policy.Maintain student records and grades. Post and be available during office hours that are reasonable for student access.Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum.Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology.Utilize available technology appropriate to assignment.Participate in program planning and budgeting.Post measurable outcomes and assessments on the college-wide On-line Catalog Administrator (OCA) and comply with expectations of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities from which results are used to continuously improve the college. Competencies Demonstrate excellent interpersonal & communication skills.Contribute to cohesive and results-oriented team.Contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and uses diverse perspectives to enhance the attainment of goals.Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to learning and self-improvement.Plan and manage time effectively; identify and handle competing priorities.Assist students in exploring options, and identifying and achieving meaningful goals.Serve as effective communications link and reliable source of information for others.Learn the complex state and federal financial aid systems.Demonstrate respect and maintain strict confidentiality.Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the game of soccer fundamentally, strategically, and psychologically.Understand how to properly train and condition college level male Soccer Athletes.Understand all NWAC and Institutional rules and guidelines regarding the administration of a women's college Soccer Program.Demonstrate an ability to attract high-level male soccer athletes to the Women's Soccer Program.Know how to manage and work within the parameters of the Women's Soccer Program's operational budget.Demonstrate the ability to manage the academic progress of the Women's Soccer Program participants.Effectively manage the Women's Soccer Team on road trips and during all Women's Soccer contests.Demonstrate an ability to effectively fundraise for the Women's Soccer Program within reasonable standards.Qualifications: Master's Degree in Nutrition or Health Sciences; closely related credentialing may substitute at the College's discretion.Experience teaching, advising, counseling, and/or mentoring experience desired.Experience working with under-prepared students in higher education environment desiredExperience working with community partner agencies desiredBilingual English/Spanish desired.Experience in playing and coaching the game of soccer, preferably at the college level and preferably this experience is in women's soccer.Experience managing a sports program budget. Conditions/Terms of Employment Terms and Conditions of Employment: This is a full-time faculty position exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required: Duties require the use of standard office furniture and equipment (e.g., desk, filing cabinet, computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, etc.). The physical demands are similar to those associated with classroom teaching or office administration. Some travel between the Walla Walla campus and the Clarkston campus. Work environment for the Women's Soccer Coach position is administrative work within an office setting and performance as a coach out on the field. The physical demands require an ability to perform out in the field teaching and coaching the game of soccer to high-level male student-athletes. Physical demands also include late night travel to and from all Women's Soccer road trips. Travel required includes travel to and from all Women's Soccer contests on the road, as well as reasonable and required travel recruiting student-athletes to the program.
Compensation: The College has a negotiated faculty salary schedule. Employee placement on the schedule is determined by education level and experience. Salary is dependent on the number of days of the contract and the candidate's placement on the negotiated faculty salary schedule. Initial placement is generally $59,144 - $67,425
for a standard 176-day contract, dependent on qualifications (additional compensation for doctorate degree). The College has a comprehensive faculty benefit program including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; and retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). The college also supports faculty professional development. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
