Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Grants Compliance Specialist provides reviews, assessments and compliance oversight audits of the Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC) grants program. Compliance oversight audits include assessing risks, identifying trends, developing and executing appropriate tests of controls to ensure awards are used for authorized purposes and compliant with the contract/grant agreement, as well as applicable federal and state laws. The Grants Compliance Specialist presents the results and recommendations for improvement to management and assists with corrective action plans as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Coordinates, tracks, and reports on grants compliance-related activities throughout the organization.
• Monitors grants data and trends to determine deficiencies and/or areas for further investigation.
• Performs research of regulatory issues pertaining to grants.
• Conducts audits and reviews of grants including performance and related billing/reimbursement records in order to evaluate the accuracy and compliance with policies, government regulations, and third party payer contracts.
• Prepares written reports summarizing findings with recommendations for improvement and corrective actions where identified.
• Assists with and monitors corrective action plans as needed.
• Develops audit plans for both scheduled and unscheduled audits and investigations.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of policies and procedures and internal controls.
• Remains current on federal and state regulations and policies related to grants.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required;
• OR, minimum of five years of auditing experience in federal/state grants;
• Certification in internal audit or related field desired but not required.
