ResponsibilitiesPosition responsible for all activities associated with obtaining, administering, tracking, reconciling and reporting of federal, state, local, and private contracts/grants and other types of awards and agreements for an assigned portfolio of projects and/or group of researchers.
Sponsored project pre-award accounting activities: Serves as subject matter expert for grants proposals including interpreting and guiding department on policies and procedures for grants activities and processes. Assists CAPS faculty with proposal preparation, review, and submission, including preparation of proposal budgets and other proposal documents as needed to ensure requirements of sponsoring agencies are met. Prepare internal proposal documents and coordinate proposal submission with Sponsored Research Administration (SRA). Compiles data to formulate complex proposal budgets and budget justifications. Preparation and oversight of all relevant information from the Principal Investigator including data entry to RAMP. Advises and works with Principal Investigators to negotiate agreements and contracts with external sponsored agencies as needed. Develops and implements policies and guidelines for grants administration including establishing departmental deadlines for the research center. Receives and processes awards. Sends required documents to Sponsored Research Administration (SRA).
Sponsored project post-award accounting activities: Responsible for oversight of highly specialized and complex contracts/grants management for assigned Principal Investigators of the research center. Reviews sponsored project accounts, verifies transactions, collects and prepares data for budget reconciliation. Monthly (or more often as required) project budget reconciliation. Prepares and provides an up-to-date detailed budget report to principal investigators at least monthly; assist investigators in understanding the report, forecasting, and re-budgeting as needed. Monitors project subcontracts, reporting, cost-sharing, property, closeout and similar as needed; resolves related issues as they arise.
Sponsored project post-award administrative activities:
Prepares internal administrative requests for sponsored projects such as no-cost extensions, advances, sub-awards, and similar as needed. Receives and processes award amendments, sending required documents to Sponsored Research Administration (SRA).
Other duties as assigned. These may include organizing, providing guidance and mentoring to grants staff, leading trainings and special projects, and assisting and aiding in the overall office functions including but not limited to, PI needs, meeting planning, etc. Use of Microsoft programs and Outlook.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and four years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to eight years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
This position requires successful completion of the eSPEAR Certification or ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire.

Minimum salary for position is $58,500 with actual salary based on education and experience.
