Responsible for planning, directing and controlling business development activities for the Government, Municipalities and Non-Profit Banking Segment. Ensure high performance in the areas of loan production, deposit growth, increasing share of wallet, asset quality, profitability, and market development. Provide superior service in order to compete successfully in a highly competitive and rate sensitive environment.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE:

  • Take responsibility for daily overdraft / NSF decisions.
  • Identify, evaluate, monitor and make any recommendation deemed necessary to the Risk Management Committee in order to assess, reduce, eliminate or control any current or prospective risks to earnings or capital arising from violations of, or nonconformance with, laws, rules regulations, prescribed practices, internal policies and procedures or ethical standards.
  • Utilize Salesforce/ nCino application to input new loans, renew existing loans and use the workflows to analyze, underwrite and recommend loan applications. Utilize Salesforce/ nCino application for servicing, booking and funding loans.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
  • Provide quality customer service to all current and prospective customers as measured by Bank service standards.
  • Deliver customer experience for all segments to ensure quality customer experience every day every time.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
  • Represent the bank in developing and maintaining client relationships with government banking clients consisting of counties, cities, K-12 public education, and essential services such as water and sanitation districts as well as public safety.
  • Assist government banking customers by applying knowledge of bank products and services
  • Increase market share (loans and deposits). Develop and maintain a prioritized list of key customers and prospects.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Bank’s Treasury Department to adequately price deposits always maximizing bank’s profitability by managing the cost of funds deployed.
  • Coordinate business development call program and evaluate business efforts to acquire targeted new relationships and deepen existing relationships
  • Support customers by effectively applying knowledge of bank products and services
  • Effective community involvement. Participation in leadership roles and in selected and high visibility organizations, which are beneficial to the community and to Amerant Bank
  • Work collaboratively with other segments within Government Banking, leverages product partner expertise, and involves local bank leadership, as appropriate
Minimum Education and/or Certifications Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, banking, finance or accounting.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

5 plus years government banking and/or Non-Profit Banking experience

Technical and/or Other Essential Knowledge:

Oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish are required. Organizational and sales skills are required in order to establish and maintain excellent interpersonal and institutional relationships. The job requires the knowledge and the ability to make credit assessments. Knowledge of Business Banking products and services is required. Must be knowledgeable of operations and credit guidelines and policy; follow Credit Policy and Procedures Manual. Also must be knowledgeable in BSA and other Banking regulations, financial statement analysis, loan documentation and administration. Previous experience with Outlook, Teams, Internet and MS Office Skills, including MS Word Advanced, MS Excel Advanced and MS PowerPoint Level II required. Experience with Salesforce and/or nCino is preferred
