Global Director Human Resources

Summary

The Global HR Director will be working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The successful incumbent will be a strategic partner to the Senior VP, Integrated Supply Chain (ISC). The position is responsible for all aspects of human resources in Polypore's manufacturing facilities around the world and will lead a global team of HR professionals in Europe, India, Thailand and China. The Global HR Director acts as a strong and proactive business partner to business leaders, with accountability for identifying, developing and deploying business-driven HR strategies designed to attract, manage, develop, motivate and retain key people. Reports to the VP Global Human Resources.

The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as a member of the HR leadership team with responsibility for developing a team culture that drives high performance.
  • Provide HR leadership and direction, partnering with the direct reports to the SVP ISC, to ensure HR strategies and tactics align with overall ISC and business performance objectives.
  • Ensure that the organizations are staffed with the highest caliber of talent by driving rigorous recruitment and selection processes as well targeted training and development programs
  • Partner with shared service resources in talent acquisition, compensation, workforce planning to broker services for global client base.
  • Lead core HR annual programs including but not limited to: objective setting, performance evaluations, compensation planning, talent assessment and succession planning.
  • Lead proactive employee relations and labor initiatives to ensure high levels of employee engagement and productivity by building strong, collaborative relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Direct the preparation and conduct of labor negotiations at union facilities, including with Works Councils or other international labor organizations. Recommend negotiation parameters and during negotiations and arbitration case presentations
  • Consult and advise on management succession and leadership planning and development to prepare the organization for transformation and growth
  • Assists international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters.
  • Build direct relationships with HR team and local leaders in the countries / locations of the global footprint

Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree required. Preferably in Human Resources, Business, or Behavioral Science. Masters Degree preferred.
  • Eight to ten years HR experience with more than five years with significant global HR Generalist experience in a leadership role, ideally in manufacturing.
  • Professional human resource certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to travel as needed with approximately 25% travel required
  • International multi-site HR experience and labor relations experience is required. Working knowledge of employment/labor law in U.S., France, Germany, India, Thailand and China.
  • Demonstrated experience managing organizational re-structuring projects and/or footprint consolidations/expansions.
  • Experience working in an industrial company is highly preferred. Must be operationally astute and demonstrate a high level of business, operations and financial acumen.
  • Experience in leading human resources teams that include labor and employee relations responsibility (union and non-union) is strongly preferred.
