Geomatics Internship Program

Career Area: Geomatics / Land Surveying

What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is looking for a hard-working and dedicated college student to join our Geomatics Internship Program. This is a multi-year internship development opportunity including hands-on experience with field, office, and project management. Mentoring will be provided by experienced and licensed Land Surveyors.

Location: Huntsville, AL, Nashville, TN, Columbus, GA, Atlanta, GA, Knoxville, TN

You will gain experience in:

• Learning how to set up and operate surveying equipment including Trimble Robotic Total stations and GNSS/GPS units
• Processing survey data in Trimble Business Software
• Gaining familiarity with Civil3D drafting software
• Gaining familiarity with Leica terrestrial scanners
• Gaining familiarity with DJI drones and UAV mapping classification software
• Learning basic field techniques such as setting control, running a level, staking property or right-of-way lines, finding corner monumentation, keeping a field book, and collecting field data using field to finish coding methodology

Education & Experience Qualifications:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree from an accredited university
• Major: Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, or related field
• Preference will be given to students that do not require sponsorship
• Current GPA of 3.0 or higher, preferred
• You must be at least 18 years of age.

Additional Details:

• This is a paid internship. A typical work week is 40 hours per week, based on business need.
• Barge will assign selected candidate location of internship based on need & availability the first year with housing assistance provided. The second and third internship years the candidate will be allowed to choose the location of work from the provided location options.
• Initial bonus designed to cover first 2 weeks of meals and fuel costs.
• Company benefits not provided.
