About the General Motors GDAAS IT team:

GM's Global Data AI & Analytic Services team innovates and drives business value with solutions that help GM drive capabilities related data and analytic services. The GDAAS IT team is responsible for developing and delivering platform solutions leveraging a wide array of systems architectures and technical platforms. Our industry leading developers, engineers, testers and architects work closely with internal teams to deliver the world's best customer experience.

About the role:

This role requires experience in software development and data engineering best practices, as well as an ability to research and use emerging technologies to solve problems and create new opportunities. The software developer will perform hands on design and programming as required. The candidate should have broad development experience and be comfortable leading and influencing other developers to build data engineering solutions using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, technologies and transform data into insights. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver with minimal supervision.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience in large scale data integration implementations
  
• Strong problem solver with ability to evaluate a challenge and understand solution patterns
  
• Experience in data aggregation and manipulation of large data sets.
  
• Knowledge of data quality, data cleansing, data wrangling, and data standards.
  
• Experience with industry leading large-scale data platforms (i.e. Hadoop, Greenplum, Oracle)
  
• Experience with open source languages and architectures including Python, Spark, Scala, Kubernetes and Docker
  
• Ability to rapidly learn innovative technologies and apply to solving business problems
  
• Experience with writing performant query language
  
• Experience with DataStage and ETL patterns
  
• Experience with optimization and performance tuning
  
• Experience building re-usable data integration frameworks and patterns
  
• Knowledge of database modeling and data structure principles, techniques and best practices.
  
• Demonstrated knowledge in multiple software development disciplines (i.e. Agile, Scrum, SDLC)
  
• In-depth understanding of good architecture and design patterns, programming practices, development standards and QA/testing processes
  
• Experience negotiating scope, timing, and resource needs in planning initiatives
