Essential Functions:
- Collect and prepare iron and sand samples for testing as required.
- Perform all required lab testing on iron samples
- Record and analyze iron and sand test results.
- Initiate corrective action measures necessary to bring out of spec findings into compliance.
- Order laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for Calibrating/standardizing all testing equipment as necessary.
- Adhere to all plant safety rules and procedures.
- Work with Melt Deck personnel/management as well as metallurgist to correct problems associated with melt metal. Work with Lost Foam, Molding and Core Room foreman to correct problems associated with sand system.
- Perform certain lab testing and functions as directed.
- High School Diploma and some college.
- Complete understanding of operation/function of lab measurement and test equipment.
- Must be analytical minded, capable of assessing the melt metal while troubleshooting any issues that are encountered.
- Adequate communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- Quality conscious
