The Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home is seeking an individual that is passionate about preparing delicious, nutritious, and creative meals for the Veterans who reside in our beautiful, long term care facility.

We offer a spacious kitchen with an energetic staff that loves to learn and create fun and delicious food. Let your creativity flow while having fun serving America's Heroes! This position is a Lead Role.

Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, 12505 Harris Tull Drive, Bellevue, NE 68123

11:00am-7:30 pm Monday-Friday w/ rotating weekends (Days off TBA)

Examples of Work
Examples includes: Prepare, season, cook, and bake food items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and number of portions to be served. Train food service staff in the preparation of simple foods/snacks and in the serving of food, and in dishwashing, cleaning, and routine equipment maintenance. Clean and maintains kitchen equipment. Oversee food service staff in the cleaning of kitchen or dining areas. Maintain kitchen and dining room records.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework, training AND/OR EXPERIENCE in food preparation, baking AND/OR kitchen operations in the food service industry or related field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: kitchen and dining room safety practices; recipes and cooking techniques for the preparation of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and baked goods; the proper handling and processing of a variety of vegetables and fruits; kitchen safety practices; facility standards and procedures for the cleaning of dishes, utensils, equipment and facilities. Ability to: communicate effectively with facility members, co-workers; train food service staff in all aspects of kitchen and dining room operations; prepare recipes; safely use sharp, heavy or hot kitchen equipment, utensils or supplies; bend, stoop, lift and carry food items. Overtime may be required.
