Role Summary:

The Engineering Program Technical Leader will manage locomotive modernization and new product development projects with broad scope with significant impact to the business. The role requires excellent leadership skills to effectively manage Commercial, Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, and Reliability deliverables. In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. The engineering program management focus will be on the business-critical programs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to accel in a lean mission-based team environment while ensuring optimized designs, validation scope, and customer deliverables by hitting schedule, cost, and performance targets
  • Provide technical leadership for a team of engineers for product design aspects of the locomotive system
  • Legacy locomotive design and control system optimization required for modernized opportunities
  • Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as commercial, proposals, manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, and systems engineering
  • Support service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Communicate progress to all levels of the organization
  • Mentor and develop less experienced personnel

Qualifications/ Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • At least five additional years of program design and/or manufacturing experience

Desired Characteristics:
  • North America and International locomotive expertise
  • Six Sigma and reliability training
  • Strong electrical/mechanical design and analytical background
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of Oracle, EDOT, Design Review, Reliance, ERP systems, TeamCenter, NX and Drawing Retrieval systems
  • Ability to drive projects to completion
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
