Job Description

Position Purpose:

The person in this position will work with the VP Finance Process Excellence to partner with cross-functional leaders at all levels in the organization on a project basis to design, implement, document, measure and continuously improve key business practices in the Finance department. They will assist with efforts to identify best practices, enhance systems, and optimize processes to realize opportunities. by helping lead workstreams to gather and analyze information, formulate, and test hypotheses and develop actionable recommendations. Ability to plan, execute and manage multiple projects simultaneously while managing change and mitigating risk is required. Experience in Finance or financial systems related role with Shared Services experience is required.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

The Finance Transformation group is a small internal strategic group that partners with the CFO and Finance leadership to shape the future of Finance at Veolia. These initiatives are high visibility projects sponsored by the Veolia CFO to help Finance achieve its long-term goals.

Some examples of these initiatives include:

  • Work with leadership to translate strategic goals into actionable targets for team and/or processes.
  • Assist with or lead a Finance Transformation project, support implementation of strategic priorities, assist with the identification and implementation of digital finance solutions, and help the Veolia businesses achieve predictable, profitable growth.
  • Extensive collaboration with managers and senior managers in the finance group to identify and execute strategic initiatives that pave the way to achieving our vision of a world-class Finance organization.
  • Assist with efforts to identify best practices, improve processes, enhance systems, and realign the Finance organization to realize opportunities.
  • Assist with defining and executing overall process excellence strategy and goals in partnership with the Vice President, Shared Services.
  • Track key performance metrics to quantify process excellence engagements in conjunction with operational leaders.
  • Communication to VP Finance Process Excellence and VP Finance Shared Services on status of various projects and findings as well as recommendations.
  • Specific tasks will include creating Google Slides presentations to communicate and influence senior leadership, both within the Finance team as well as other functions.
  • Develop, own, and modify detailed Excel models to conduct what-if analyses and perform other analytical tasks.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or IT preferred.
  • Strong prior experience with the financial and accounting aspects of ERP systems (SAP preferred), including moderate system setup and organization familiarity.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Project Management in a finance context or previous work experience with financial technologies is a must.
  • Candidates possessing a PMP or related certification preferred.

  • Able to proactively anticipate and prevent problems that could result in customer dissatisfaction or failure to execute at required service level.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to make connections across workstreams and matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite of products required.
  • Consistently meets assigned deadlines as dictated by senior management.
  • Focuses on attention to detail in the creation of a quality work product and strongly displays process-oriented thinking; evidencing solid organization and project planning skills.
  • Displays capability for innovation in the development of solutions to complex challenges while demonstrating the ability to foster idea creation independently.
  • Desire and commitment to participating in an active team environment, with the willingness to assume additional roles and duties.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and the Company's Code of Business Conduct.
  • Consistently applies company policies and procedures applicable to day-to-day assignments and displays insight into understanding the underlying purpose of the task in addition to its strict completion.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Certification in Business Process Management or Project Management preferable but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Minimal travel required; this role is predominantly in the Milwaukee Veolia Honey Creek office and office work related.
