This position falls under the U.S. Department of Labor Service Contract Act (SCA). Hourly wage will be determined based on the geographical area in which your home is located. The pay rate for your location is $17.05 per hour. In addition to hourly pay, a Health and Welfare stipend of $4.27 per hour will be provided for up to 40 hours per week. You are also eligible to receive pay for up to 10 holidays and annual vacation time payout.
Travel time and mileage is fully reimbursable.

Field Interviewers are responsible for

  • Making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions and obtain participation
  • Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
  • Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
  • Conducting phone interviews with adolescents, caregivers, and services caseworkers
  • When working in the field, must be willing to agree to any COVID-19-related protocols put in place by RTI.  These could include, among others, wearing face coverings or respiratory protection, gloves, taking temperatures daily, social distancing with survey respondents, getting vaccinated, and/or completing a health pledge. All safety supplies required for use on the project will be provided by RTI.

RTI International is seeking Part Time Field Interviewers to work on a government sponsored research study called the National Survey of Child and Adolescent Wellbeing (NSCAW). NSCAW is a national study of children who have had contact with the child welfare system or are at risk of abuse or neglect. This longitudinal study collects child and family-level data from children, their current caregivers, and their caseworkers, and may take place in various locations including homes, agency offices, or group homes.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years old at time of employment
  • Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening, and fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
  • Available for entire training and data collection period
  • Able to successfully complete training
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
  • Able to keep project information confidential.
  • Must have phone for business use; either landline or cell is appropriate.

  • Must have a flexible schedule to administer surveys based on respondents' availability, to include mornings, afternoons and evening hours during evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates

  • Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with people from culturally-diverse backgrounds
  • Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
  • Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency

  • The data collection period is expected to be July 2022 through August 2023.
  • On average, you will be needed approximately 20 hours per week when work is available.
  • On average, you should be available to work in the field 3 days each week.
  • The majority of this work is anticipated to be during evenings and weekends.
  • Each of your trips to the field are expected to be at least 4 hours long

You must attend a virtual training program between 10am and 3pm eastern time for approximately one week prior to beginning assignment. To participate in this training, you must have access to a reliable internet connection and available to participate without interruption. You will also need to complete a self-administered homestudy prior to attending virtual training.
