General Summary

This position is responsible for providing accurate field engineering and controls for the support of the progress of construction work.

Job site location is in Laredo, Texas.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Have Ownership of the work. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
  • Create quantity-tracking system for the items you are responsible for, that can be easily maintained and understood by anyone, at any time.
  • Complete timecard review and submit to office engineer.
  • Review foreman's diaries w/ timecard to ensure foreman are coding timesheets correctly & are using extra work codes correctly.
  • Maintain personal diary or To-do List (Goodson Method)
  • Turn in completed PO's to the office engineer.
  • Turn in your receivers and trucking tickets to the office engineer, coded to the proper cost code.
  • Track rental equipment and tools to be sure that they are accounted for in the project cost and returned. Include: Date rented, rental firm, summary of condition the machine arrived.
  • Ensure that subcontractors are submitting their diaries every day that they are on site.
  • Provide superintendent and foreman with daily cost information.
  • Meet with the crews you support twice a day or as needed.
  • Take a job tour with the superintendent once a day or as needed.
  • Assist the foreman and surveyors with layout as needed.
  • Provide assistance to the superintendents and foreman to accurately interpret the plans and specifications.
  • Have daily contact with your subcontractors and suppliers, schedule them accordingly with input received from the superintendents.
  • Verify equipment usage on your features of work (construction activities).
  • Attend schedule / quality control / safety meetings.
  • Make cost adjustments as necessary based on the daily labor and equipment used.
  • Work with project engineer to accurately process subcontractor's payments and forward to project support specialist. Produce accurate quantities for progress payments.
  • Coordinate with project engineer and owner to achieve mutually agreed upon quantities for progress payments.
  • Produce accurate quantities for monthly cost report, and progress payments.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.

Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction.
  • Experience in federal projects or DOT projects is desirable.
  • Experience in earthwork and concrete bridge construction is desirable.
  • Familiar with OSHA Safety Regulations.
  • Familiar with ACI standards and TxDOT specifications is desirable.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Scheduling and AGTEK Take-off software.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Ability to perform trigonometric calculation either manually or with a calculator.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.

Base Salary Range:
$68,202.00 - $102,304.00
