AMR operates recycling facilities in Kansas and Missouri. Our processing capabilities include an automobile shredder, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers, and extensive transportation services. We are currently looking for a Facility Manager who will be responsible for our Twelfth Street location, which is a Shredder Facility. This is a new role and an excellent opportunity to drive overall operations for a 11.5 acre facility with responsibility for 2 supervisors and 30 teammates. The ideal candidate will have a perfect blend of the ability to lead people, create synergistic outcomes, manipulate intricate processes, manage complex mechanical production equipment, and drive financial results. This position is fast-paced and requires flexibility and willingness to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
Responsibilities
  • Create a "Safety First" culture in each facility.
  • Ability to lead teams and direct operations to maximize production and profitability.
  • Ability to proactively drive change within the organization. Ability to understand that change is constant and we will continually strive to improve our processes and information systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, explain and consistently apply complex regulations and polices related to; Safety compliance, Environmental compliance, Scrap purchasing requirements, Employee relations, Best practices.
  • Ability to select, lead and develop people of different backgrounds to execute the company's objectives.
  • Proactively improve facility efficiency and effectiveness by driving improvement in operations and equipment reliability.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand financial statements and the ability to project the impact of decisions on the financial results of an operation.
  • Clear and thorough written and verbal communication of issues and opportunities.
  • Ability to represent the organization in local community and political matters.
  • Ability to work across boundaries with other departments and corporate staff members.
  • Keen awareness of scrap market dynamics and the ability to manage people, inventories and production operations through volatile changes in scrap pricing and volumes.
  • Ability to extract, collate and communicate significant market data to Commercial group and General Manager.
  • Consistently achieves results listed above while exhibiting workplace behaviors consistent with company values and core competency expectations.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a business discipline, along with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a business environment required; OR 5 year's operations, heavy industrial or manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership ability and understanding of business management concepts required.
  • Scrap processing industry experience a plus.
  • Effective communication skills with people at all levels of employees within the organization.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual Spanish speaking, is preferred
  • Experience interfacing with customers and providing excellent customer service.
