SPACE SYSTEMS

Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.

FACILITIES TECHNICIAN III - ELECTRICAL

Based at SolAero by Rocket Lab in Albuquerque, New Mexico the Facilities Technician III - Electrical Technician is responsible for equipment and tool install, facilities maintenance and ERT team support. This position performs a wide variety of maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of electrical systems related to the function and operation of an aerospace composites/ semiconductor plant and facility including gasses, chemicals, compressed air, water and waste streams. This position also performs installation, maintenance and repair on HVAC, plumbing, electrical equipment and manufacturing support systems. Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues. Makes recommendations for new procedures. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. Often acts as a facilitator and team leader. Duties are often performed at elevated heights and are performed indoors and outYou will support the Facilities Manager and operations organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:

  • Fabricate, modify and installation of piping systems related to the function and operation of an aerospace composites/ semiconductor plant and facility including lighting, gasses, chemicals, compressed air, water and waste streams.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of all facility/HVAC/plumbing/electrical equipment and systems.
  • Monitors and assures that environmental standards for clean room operation are maintained.
  • Performs facility equipment operational and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Works with engineers to resolve issues or plan for installing new equipment or systems.
  • Assumes role in training and support of new technicians.
  • Monitors facility/HVAC systems and suggests modifications for improvement.
  • Maintain facility data collection requirements and procedures.
  • Identifies nonconformance when they occur and participates in finding the solution to the non-conformance.
  • Deploys the Quality Management System as it applies to the scope of work.
  • Supports Facilities shut down and projects off shift as scheduled by department management.
  • Serve as member of Emergency Response Team.
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of electrical experience in a facilities position
  • High School diploma
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
  • Associate degree or equivalent certificate in electrical / mechanical systems/equipment training.
  • New Mexico Journeyman electrician's license EE98J
  • Have experience with and be comfortable working on electrical circuits up to 480v, 3 phase.
  • Respirator experience - must be clean shaven
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Osha and/or safety training
  • Previous Clean Room work environment is a plus
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical conduit and circuit installation.
  • Electrical motor control / PLC / DDC control troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of facilities systems including mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, high purity gas and water and waste water systems.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment, or a related trade.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electro-pneumatics, digital and analogue electronics, and working knowledge of Automated Building Controls is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CCTV, fire and security alarm systems is a plus.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be comfortable working in a production environment with extensive use of hazardous chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and solvents
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for lab and electro-chemical manufacturing environment
  • Must be comfortable with climbing up and down ladders, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, carrying, crawling, and maneuvering in tight spaces
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
