  • Leads a team of 70 professional service veterinarians, regional strategic veterinarians, boarded specialists, medical leads, and inside sales veterinarians to provide outstanding support of Zoetis Diagnostics diagnostic products through the provision of technical and medical expertise to internal and external customers
  • Enhances scientific/professional image of Zoetis within the veterinary profession.
  • Effectively manages Zoetis resources and colleagues to achieve the above.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES

Team leadership and performance management
  • Establishes objectives and manage the performance of a multi-functional Professional Services team
  • Facilitates effective communication within Veterinary Professional Services (VPS) & Medical Affairs and with closely aligned Sales and Marketing colleagues
  • Develops team thru mentorship and coaching by setting goals and continuously monitoring performance.
  • Develops and manages operating expense forecasts and budgets for the department.
  • Creates, leads and executes training curriculum for the team to support pharmaceutical and diagnostic products
  • Supports the development of leader behaviors, Core Beliefs and individual development plans throughout the VPS team.
  • Prioritizes and manages the VPS resource effectively

Strategic input to Diagnostics division Business Unit
  • Provides a broad range of support for veterinary medical activities
  • Maintains close liaison with Marketing, Sales, VMIPS, CDLCM, L & D, Regulatory, and VMRD to effectively leverage Professional Services expertise
  • Provides appropriate medical and technical input into the development of clear positions and strategies for key issues
  • Enhances scientific/professional image of Zoetis Group while developing a platform to support the sustainable demand creation strategies of the US Petcare business.
  • Helps identify key Zoetis leadership opportunities within the veterinary profession

Technical Team Ensure appropriate medical and technical input and support of Petcare
  • PSV
    • Veterinary voice and technical expert on the field sales teams
    • Partner with ABM to create and align on the area business strategy.
    • Engage with strategic KOLs at assigned CVMs to positively influence attitude and use of Zoetis focus/key brands.
    • Effectively contribute to area strategies through business fluency with sales reports and analytics (Tableau, etc.), veterinary industry/business insights, development and sharing of novel, creative and effective X portfolio / focus brand tactics.
    • Collaborate, align, and communicate consistently with ABM, to effectively coach to individual TBM/SAM developmental opportunities (includes technical fluency, solution selling skills and business strategy/approach).
  • Specialists
    • Schedule effective and strategic field activities, focus on high impact multiparty events to anchor field weeks
    • Successfully prepare market and launch new products.
    • Positively influence the attitudes of specialist colleagues and peers towards Zoetis products.
    • Provide support to Marketing/VMRD/BD
  • Medical Affairs
    • Technical partner of the marketing manager to create and execute brand strategies and tactics
    • Ensures high quality technical support for product launches and in line products
    • Build strong KOL relationships and develop National KOL plans
Other
  • Leads the data generation strategy for Diagnostics approved portfolio of products
  • Lead the medical educational and KOL engagement strategies
  • Works with Regional Business Directors, Group Director Major Accounts, Marketing Directors and other stakeholders to ensure that the proposed Petcare launches, strategies and tactics are successfully and consistently executed

Professional/Customer Organizations
  • Attends selected professional organization meetings
  • Establishes and maintains liaison relationship with key organizations to gather information and to identify potential areas of collaboration.
  • Leads professional/customer organizations by serving on committees, boards and commissions or as an officer or speaker on behalf of the organization as appropriate

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent degree.
  • A minimum of 12 years post-doctoral experience in clinical practice, academia, research or industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Financial experience including budgetary management
  • Experience leading a team of professionals/specialists
  • Demonstrated strategic directional thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability for matrix management
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Travel requirement of 15-20% of time

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five (5) years or more companion animal private practice or relevant industry experience
  • Research experience, published scientific papers
