Functions under the direct supervision of the ED Charge Nurse and routinely stocks all bedside carts, specialty carts and ensures that the ED patients have the supplies and equipment required in a timely manner.

• Stocks and maintains all carts.

• Responsible for immediate stocking and restocking of specialty carts on a daily basis or as directed after usage.

• Reports to the Charge Nurse any equipment failures, unusual events or departmental findings. Carries out tasks delegated from the Charge Nurse in a timely manner.

• Stocks all rooms with laundry.

• Organizes and picks up all areas of the department.

• Puts stock away, keeps stockroom clean and organized.

• Communicates with stock order person about needs of department.

• Assists with patient flow issues when necessary, i.e. transport, messenger, runner.

• Retrieves ED equipment that migrates to other areas of the hospital

• Assists in maintaining a healthy clean environment in the ED by removing and cleaning dirty equipment from patient care areas.

• Responsible for stocking Trauma Rooms 1 and 2 to be ready at all times.

• Follows the equipment tag and log system to send ED equipment for repair and tracks when they are returned to the ED.

• Uses computer for work only.

Qualifications
• Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment consistent in health care setting required.

• 1 year experience working in an Emergency department preferred.

• High School Diploma or equivalency required.
