Antea USA, Inc. (Antea®Group) is seeking to fill an Environmental Health and Safety(EHS) Coordinator role based in the Orange County area. (Irvine, CA)

We are looking for a responsible Safety Officer to facilitate compliance with Federal and California Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA and Cal/OHSA) standards. You will provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations. You will also be on a constant lookout for violations.

The ideal candidate will be a responsible individual who values and holds OHS and Environmental regulations as a top priority. Your work will be largely focused on prevention, so you need to be conscientious and farsighted. The ideal candidate will also be detail-oriented and ready to act in emergencies. The goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to EHS.

This is a full-time position that will be embedded with a publicly traded manufacturing company in the Technology industry. This position is available immediately and is a 6mo+ contract with potential to hire permanently upon completion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of EHS policies and programs, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations
  • Advise and instruct on various EHS-related topics (e.g. electrical safety, material handling, ergonomics, hazardous material handling, waste management, permit control, etc.)
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
  • Develop new procedures, controls, training or reports as necessary or review existing ones and update them in line with legislation and/or practice
  • Initiate and conduct EHS training of employees and management
  • Inspect premises, personnel work practices at the facility and customer sites to identify issues or non-conformity
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • Identify actions to close the gaps and work together with responsible persons / stakeholders to ensure timely risk mitigation
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine root causes, then evaluate corrective and preventive actions
  • Review new and existing chemicals/materials and ensure that all have Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) which are maintained and up to date, and reviewed with relation to Proposition 65
  • Set and monitor EHS and Sustainability goals/objectives/assignments
  • Prepare reports on incident occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management

Required Education and Skills:
  • BS/BA in environmental, health and safety management, engineering, occupational hygiene, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of legislation standards (e.g. OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, CalEPA, DOT etc.) and procedures
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for EHS-related topics
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain EHS topics
  • Ability to quickly interpret complex issues and provide recommended course of action
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ownership in driving identified actions
  • Working knowledge of EHS management information systems is a plus

Required Experience:
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience
  • Proficiency in electrical safety is preferred

Physical Requirements / Work Environment - Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
  • Sedentary to light work (typical office or administrative work)
  • Frequently required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of low (under 25lbs) to moderate (25-49lbs) weight objects
  • Repetitive motions: substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (including reaching)
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change)
  • Operation of a motor vehicle
