SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the safe handling and storage of hazardous substances on campus. The Coordinator understands and supports the mission and vision of EH&S and assists with identifying and mitigating physical, chemical, and biological hazards in the workplace to protect workers from job-related injuries and illnesses. The incumbent assists with improving trainings and communications to promote a safe and healthy work environment, implements and upholds best practices, identifies deficiencies, and recommends corrective actions to maintain compliance with applicable regulations and standards. The incumbent assists the University in ensuring compliance with various federal, state and local regulatory and non-regulatory requirements pertaining to public safety, education, and the environment, including but not limited to: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Code of Massachusetts Regulations (CMR), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Department of Transportation (DOT). The incumbent is responsible for the management and oversight of the campus chemical inventory, and Chemical Environmental Management System (CEMS) ensuring that the campus remains in compliance with fire, building and safety codes.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in science, Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency Management or a related field
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum (over one year) experience in emergency management and/or continuity management
OTHER:
Must have a valid Driver's License and be willing to drive between campus locations and to off-campus assignments
Must be able to report to campus, when required
Must have RCRA/DOT/IATA training
40-hour HAZWOPER Training certified
