Job Description

GPIisseeking an Entry-Level Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Pittsburgh or North East, PA offices. As a successful candidate, you can contribute to the planning, designing, and construction of water, wastewater, infrastructure, and civil design projects for various municipal and private clients

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, plan, design, and support management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities) including preparation of permit applications and technical specifications
  • Develop preliminary facilities layouts and designs
  • Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, technology evaluations, plant operations optimization, and process troubleshooting
  • Support professional engineering services during construction including construction observation, review of shop drawings, and responding to requests for information (RFIs)
  • Coordination with manufacturer's representatives and contractors on equipment selection
  • Support Asset Management projects performing data analytics, operational and organizational assessments, condition assessments, and overall performance evaluations of water/wastewater/stormwater facilities
  • Preparation of reports, presentations, cost estimates, and participation in client meetings
Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 0-3 years of water/wastewater engineering experience
  • EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6-months
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water/wastewater/stormwater
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and work ethic
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team
  • Flexible attitude towards assignments, with the initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
